Buy Now To Get Window And Door Federal Tax Credits

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (part of the Economic Stimulus Plan) modifies and extends federal tax credits for ‘qualified energy improvements,’ which includes replacement windows and doors. The new credits are for 30% of the cost of the eligible product up to an aggregate limit for $1,500 for tax years 2009 and 2010.Qualifying replacement windows and/or patio doors must have both a U-Factor rating of .30 or lower and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) rating of .30 or lower.  Homeowners should purchase and install windows between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.

Up to $1,500 maximum credit for windows for all taxable years.

Allowed only for amounts paid or incurred to purchase the window or door.

Not allowed for amounts paid for on-site preparation, assembly, original installation labor, other components or sales tax.

The purchase must be made during the taxable year for which the credit is claimed.

Claiming your Tax Credit:

1.  Request an invoice demonstrating the cost breakout of the window or door components from us.  This cost will exclude the cost of onsite preparation, assembly, original installation labor, other components or sales tax.

2.  Retain the NFRC label from your qualified window or door.

3.  Keep the contractor invoice and NFRC label with your tax files.  You are not required to provide this documentation to the IRS, but you will be required to present it if audited.
